Comment:
This novel set in Northern Ireland during The Troubles made me think of The Thorn Birds in that one of the central characters chooses service to the Cause over devotion to spouse and home. I couldn’t put the book down. While there is a love triangle, the book also explores (and not too heavily) Ireland’s struggle to end England’s dominion. The female protagonist will both frustrate and appease the reader.

This book takes on the story of a lawyer that defends a college love's husband in a corrupt African court. While diving into the world of Africa, tribes and oil you feel immersed with the characters. Frightening but real this is a great book that expresses the struggles of African nations.
